BIO JULY 2009
I am amazed at how much I have developed as a dancer and as a person throughout my year as DOTY. Of course, what comes with a new company comes many first experiences and new friendships, which have been wonderful! I am certainly looking forward to continuing to travel with Tremaine next year. Thank you Joe and all the amazing teachers and staff for making a year like this happen for me. You all rock my world!
BIO AUGUST 2008 I am Michael Pesko and I'm fourteen years old. Next year I will be a freshman in high school. My passion for dance started early, for example, when I was two years old, I was dancing at a street fair and won a water bottle. I finally started taking dance class when I was six years old, after watching my sister dance years before that. I would teach myself the choreography my sister was doing, and apply it to myself. I started in a boys' hip hop class and eventually started taking jazz, ballet and tap at the age of seven. I fell in love with it ever since. Now I have been dancing for about nine years.
When I'm not dancing, I like to swim, hang out with my friends, edit and mix music, and eat, of course. When I'm not dancing with my company, I take every opportunity to take classes in New York City at Steps, and Broadway Dance Center. In college, I plan on studying dance, and I also have an interest in international business. My inspirations are Colby Shinn, Dan Karaty, Tyce Diorio, Joe Lanteri, and of course Joe Tremaine and the whole staff. After my year as Dancer of the Year, I hope to keep working for Tremaine. Two years ago when I attended my first Tremaine Convention, I knew that this was a family I wished to become a part of.
I would like to thank my teachers Candice, Jane, and Tom Karaty, Lisa Danias, Mary No, Dan Karaty, and Chris Erk for helping me to become the best dancer I can be. I would also love to thank Joe Tremaine and the faculty for believing that I can represent Tremaine well as the 2008-2009 Teen Male Dancer of the Year.
